Substantial vision loss or blindness affects an estimated 100,000 Queenslanders, or 2.5% of the population, and this number is predicted to almost double in the next twenty years. Fortunately, 75% of this vision loss is treatable or preventable if detected early enough.
To reduce the incidence of avoidable vision loss or blindness within the Queensland population, QVI aims to improve eye health in Queensland through:
